Connecting a laptop (School Dining Hall)

1. Decide whether you want to use HDMI or VGA to connect. Not sure? See the bottom of this page.

2. Grab an HDMI cable or VGA+audio cable from the hooks near the AV rack/arch.

3. Connect one end of the cable to your device. If using VGA, be sure to connect the audio cable as well if you need sound. (This is not necessary for HDMI since picture and sound are transmitted on the same cable.)

4. Connect the other end of the cable to the wall plate by the AV rack/arch.

5. Make sure your device is on and sending video.

6. Go to the touchscreen in the AV rack. If the touchscreen is black, tap it to wake it up. If you see the screen below, the group before you left the system on. Turn the system off so we can start fresh.

7. Hit the big START button. The screen will come down and the projector will turn on.

8. Choose "Wall Plate" under Audio/Video Sources.

9. Laptop volume can be adjusted using the "Source Volume" control on the right side of the screen.

When finished:

  1. Return all equipment back.

  2. On the touchscreen, hit the red "System Shut Down" button on the touchscreen and confirm.

What are HDMI and VGA?

These are the names for the two types of connections we support. Here's what they look like:
