Connecting a laptop (Marian Hall, Rooms A&B Separate)
1. Decide whether you want to use HDMI or VGA to connect. Not sure? See the bottom of this page.
2. Grab an HDMI cable or VGA+audio cable from the AV closet.
3. Bring the cable to your room's HDMI/VGA ports.
Marian A: Onstage in floor pocket
Marian B: Underneath control touchscreen
4. Connect one end of the cable to the room's HDMI or VGA port.
5. Connect the other end of the cable to your device. If using VGA, be sure to connect the audio cable as well if you need sound. (This is not necessary for HDMI since picture and sound are transmitted on the same cable.)
6. Make sure your device is on and sending video.
7. Go to the touchscreen. If you see the screen below, the group before you left the system on. Turn the system off so we can start fresh.
8. Hit the big start button, then choose "Rooms A&B Separate" since Marian Hall is operating as two smaller, separate rooms.
9. Turn the projector on using the button on the left side of the screen.
10. In the center section, select "HDMI/VGA Stage Floor" if you're in Marian Room A; or "HDMI/VGA Wall Plate" if you're in Marian Room B since that's where you plugged your computer in.
Laptop volume can be adjusted using the "Source Volume" control on the right side of the screen.
When finished:
On the upper right of the touchscreen, hit the red "System Shut Down" and confirm.
Return cables to the AV closet. Put them on the hooks and make them look neat and tidy.
